REIKI FAQ
Q: What is Reiki?
A: Reiki is an energy healing technique developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s. The word “Reiki” can be translated as “spiritually guided life force energy.” This life force, when activated, brings the receiver into better harmony and accelerates the body’s natural healing processes. Practitioners use hand positions to channel healing energy, not with the intention to heal, but rather to offer energy for the client’s body to use as needed. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.
**It is important for people to realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience. In order for the Reiki healing energies to have longer lasting results, the client must accept responsibility for their healing and take an active part in it. Therefore, the Usui system of Reiki is more than the use of the Reiki energy. It must also include an active commitment to improve oneself in order for it to be a complete system.

Q. Is Reiki a religion?
A. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, many people find that Reiki enhances their own spiritual experiences.
Q:What is a Reiki Treatment like?
A: In a standard treatment, the Reiki energy flows from the practitioner's hands into the client. The client lays on a Reiki table (similar to a massage table) but treatments can also be given while they are seated or even standing. The practitioner places their hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions. Each position is held for 3-10 minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position.
Usually feelings of deep relaxation are felt and many feel a wonderful warm glowing radiance that flows through and around them. Some people drift off to sleep while others have visions and other mystical experiences. At the end of the treatment, clients tend to feel refreshed and invigorated. The treatment usually lasts between 45-60 minutes.

Q: What should I expect when I come in for a Reiki treatment?
A: My clients will find a quiet and peaceful treatment area, a Reiki table with freshly cleaned linens, soothing music, and dim lighting. I may also burn Frankincense or use an essential oil diffuser to help cleanse the room. There will be a quick form to fill out and we will discuss the intention for the treatment. Once the intent is set, the client will get comfortable on the table and the treatment will begin. All clothing remains on but shoes and eyeglasses should be removed.

The way I give Reiki treatment is a little different than others. Not only do I send the Reiki with my hands, but while giving the treatment, I meditate and visualize the seven major chakras and receive messages about their status (e.g. blocked, overactive, or healthy). These messages help my clients understand what parts of them need the most spiritual, emotional, or even physical healing. I feel doing this extra step is important because the benefits of Reiki can last much longer when the client can take an active role in the healing process. I do respect my clients free will and always ask beforehand whether they want to hear their messages or not. Either way, they still get the many benefits of Reiki!

Q: Can anyone learn Reiki?
A: Yes, anyone can learn Reiki! Learning Reiki opens up your heart and mind to a higher vibration full of pure love that you can then spread to others. The class setting is a bit different than most metaphysical workshops. The ability to do Reiki is transferred from the teacher to the student through a process called a “placement/attunement” that takes place during a Reiki class. Once a person learns all the required material and receives this placement, they have the ability to do Reiki. You can become a certified Reiki Practitioner in one weekend!
PSYCHIC SERVICES FAQ
Q. What exactly are Oracle cards and why use them?
A. Oracle cards are a divination tool that can help to open intuitive awareness and build a connection to yourself. Oracle cards tend to be free flowing and vary in their messaging and artistic design. There are many different types of cards available; some feature simple imagery or words and others may be complex in design and feature stunning original artistic work. There are no set number of cards in an Oracle deck and some come with detailed guidebooks and some do not. Oracle cards have become increasingly popular and widely available in recent years. Adding an Oracle deck to your morning routine or intuitive development practice can help foster a close connection to your intuitive senses.
Q. Are Oracle cards and Tarot cards the same?
A. Oracle cards and Tarot differ in lots of ways with the main difference being that Tarot cards follow a specific structure and typically contain 78 cards. Oracle cards have no set structure to them and can vary in the amount of cards each deck contains. With Tarot, once you learn the meanings of the major and minor arcana and the suits you’ll be able to interpret and recognize most any tarot deck. Oracle cards tend to be more straightforward and some even have the meanings written on the front of the cards. Oracle cards will vary completely from deck to deck, sometimes they will have a theme, sometimes not.

Both Tarot and Oracle cards act as a mirror of the current energy. They will reflect the truth of your situation and point out possible ways forward. Think of reading the cards as a conversation with a trusted mentor or your higher self. There is no judgment or “negative” or “positive” messages. There is only the reflection of energy and an opportunity to find a way forward through self-knowledge and an understanding of circumstances.

Q. What should I expect during an Oracle Reading?
A. During an oracle reading, I will close my eyes, ground myself, and feel my connection to the collective energy. Then I will begin to pull cards from multiple decks and place them on the table however I am intuitively called to do. I will read through their messages and help interpret what I feel they mean. Clients are more than welcome to record the reading on their phones, take pictures of the cards and their messages, or write down any information they feel is important.
Q. What is a Spiritual Medium?
A. Everyone is psychic, but not everyone is a medium. A medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned their gifts and can communicate with the spirits on different vibrations. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices, or mental impressions from the collective energy that surrounds us all. A medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirit people vibrate and then must interpret the messages they are being given.
Q. What is a Meditative Journey?
A. Meditative journeys are meant to help clients better understand themselves. First, clients must understand the concept of one’s “Higher Self.” The higher self is the part of us that is free from ego and the divisions it can create between us and others. It’s the non-material piece of us (think soul or spirit) that is a part of the cosmic whole. During a journey, I go into a meditative space and locate the client’s higher self and then receive images and messages that will help them towards spiritual or emotional healing. Sometimes I meet spirit guides, power/spirit animals, angels, or loved ones that wish to support the clients healing.
